Our Background
Energy Training Resources was founded in 2007 by Paul Parsons after he led a project to document the internal controls related to the functional duties, operational processes, and leasing/contractual arrangements of a major division of an oil and gas company. Paul was the divisional CFO and felt that he gained a lot of useful knowledge from the review that would have otherwise been difficult to acquire from on-the-job experience or from any training course that was available. He thought it was the type of information that should be elevated and shared.
Today, Energy Training Resources is a leading provider of “industry overview” courses for oil and gas companies and other industry-related institutions. We help employees move beyond being isolated “task masters” and provide functional, operational and commercial knowledge for them to better serve as business partners and team players. We tailor our courses to best fit each company’s scope of operations and stay up to date with industry activities, including solid coverage of U.S. unconventional development.
Our courses are well-organized and media-rich, with extensive use of photos, graphics, video segments and animations – most of which were custom developed. This allows us to cover a surprising about of information in as little as one day. Our courses are suitable for beginners but the depth and scope of the agendas are designed to be engaging for any function or experience level.
As part of our undertaking, we produced a 2-hour video that shows the drilling and hydraulic fracturing of a horizontal well. We show portions in our courses but also sell it separately. It has been purchased by more than 500 companies, educational institutions and other organizations. We also offer eLearning courses.
In addition to industry-overview courses, we offer courses on oil and gas accounting/reporting, mineral rights and oil and gas sustainability training.
